![]() It's likely not using any standard log curve, there probably isn't documentation on the profile, and therefore developers won't be able to build support for it into apps. I would assume the app and log profile you are describing fits the description above. The camera also might not have sufficient dynamic range to take advantage of a log color profile. They are sometimes more of an aesthetic choice rather than a genuine filmmaking tool. These low profiles are not documented and also not particularly effective at increasing the quality of the image the camera is able to capture. ![]() In a lot of instances, it's just a regular rec709 image with reduce contrast to protect shadows and highlights from clipping or getting crushed. That's a great questions, but I'm afraid this might not be the answer you are hoping for!Ī lot of camera apps offer 'log' shooting options.
